Weddings at Piperdam are always stylish. Carolanne and Ian’s was just that. On a lovely, fresh, April day I headed for Carolanne’s parents’ house in Alyth to start photographing the bridal preps. It was a mix of calm chaos. Carolanne was calmly having her makeup done and sipping champagne and the kids were all very excited. I love wedding mornings, there’s always so much going on and it’s a good opportunity for me to get to know everyone a bit better. Being there from the start of the day really helps me photograph the story.
Everyone looked fabulous, Carolanne slipped into her Maggie Sotterro wedding dress and was whisked off in a rather stylish wedding car with her proud Dad sitting by her side to accompany her on the journey to the venue.
I had chatted to her Dad earlier in the morning, while he was making a cuppa, and he was so proud of his wonderful daughter. Weddings are not just about the bride and groom, it’s a very big day for their parents and the whole family.
Piperdam had been beautifully styled. It’s a huge log cabin on the edge of a beautiful loch. It’s a perfect setting for a Scottish wedding.
Carolanne looked stunning as she walked down the aisle to be married to Ian. The love of her life. They are such a great couple. They are both relaxed and friendly and great parents to their little daughter who was their flower girl.
The ceremony was very moving and soon they were married. The drinks reception followed straight afterwards. It’s one of the best times for getting candid photos of family and friends. There was plenty of laughter and smiles and everyone was enjoying themselves.
The loch made a spectacular background for romantic photographs of Carolanne and Ian and also for a few family group pictures. With my style of documentary wedding photography I don’t spend too long doing portraits and groups as it’s important that everyone gets to spend as much time as possible enjoying the day. After the wedding breakfast and speeches, the room was set for the band and the evening party. I stayed to photograph their first few dances and left everyone dancing to the sounds of a great band “Eat The Peach”
